Hit-Run Driver Sought After 19-Year-Old Critically Injured On Sunrise Highway In Freeport

A month after a 19-year-old man was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver on a Long Island highway, the suspect is still at large.

The incident happened on Sunrise Highway in Freeport at around 11:15 p.m. Sept. 14.

Nassau County Police said the victim was crossing Sunrise Highway near the intersection of Bayview Avenue when a dark colored SUV traveling northbound struck him.

The vehicle then fled the scene heading westbound on Sunrise Highway.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition. No other details were given.

Investigators released two surveillance images of the suspect's vehicle in hopes it would lead to an arrest.
